Legendary Austin Songwriter, Bruce Robison, Celebrates Re-Release of Hit Album, Wrapped , on Vinyl with Texas Run

Is Tom Brady the greatest football player of all time? How do you measure that, by wins? By Super Bowl titles? That’s something you argue about over beers. What about an album, how do you determine the best album ever released? By the amount of #1s on it, or top 5s? How about an album that has two #1s, three Top 5s, and a Texas classic? Well, that would be Bruce Robison’s, Wrapped , and we’re still looking for another record that has such high success. Spin it for yourself March 22nd, with the re-release of Wrapped on vinyl.

In regard to the Lone Star State’s finest tunesmiths, Bruce Robison lands at the top of the heap. He has a song catalog that blows many people away, and some of the biggest hits in there came from the release of Robison’s sophomore album, Wrapped . His songwriting on this album turned the heads of some of the industry’s biggest artists and took them to the top of the charts (George Strait’s recording of “Wrapped” and the beautiful Tim McGraw/Faith Hill rendition of “Angry All The Time”).

The title track, “Wrapped,” was written by Robison after going through a heart aching breakup with his now wife, Kelly Willis. After hearing the song, Willis eventually cut the song for herself (beating Charlie Robison to it who also was in awe of the song). A few years later, the song was cut by the great George Strait, heading straight to the top of the charts. “Desperately” was a co-write between Monte Warden and Robison, which caught the ear of George Strait, resulting in the second cut of Robison’s from Strait. “Angry All the Time” is about a marriage that, through time, came crashing down. The lyrics give listeners a feel of the strain from a failed marriage. Robison originally recorded it with wife, Willis, on harmonies. Tim McGraw later cut the song with background vocals from Faith Hill. McGraw’s version was one of his most emotionally touching songs, and with the heavy lyrics of Robison’s, it quickly became a chart topper.“My Brother and Me” is one of the most well-known songs in Texas, and especially relatable to so many people who grew up in small towns. The lyrics relate a multi-generational story about Robison’s family and growing up in Bandera, Texas with his brother, Charlie Robison. You can always count on the whole crowd singing along to this one.

Wrapped is an album that most songwriters dream to release. Not many people have records like this one. A record that is so lyrically strong, it attracted some of the top artists in the business. Wrapped will be re-released on vinyl on March 22, 2019, pre-order starts in February. Followed by Robison hitting the road for a string of Texas dates.
